Craig Chang, M.D., FACS, FASMBS
Craig Chang, M.D., FACS, FASMBS, is the medical director for the bariatric surgery program at DeTar Healthcare System. Under his guidance, DeTar Healthcare System's weight loss surgery program has been recognized by the following organizations:
- Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program
- Blue Distinction Centers+ for Bariatric Surgery Program
Dr. Chang has been performing surgery for more than 20 years and specializes in minimally-invasive, also called laparoscopic, procedures. He is dedicated to providing patients medical care with a personal touch and, in addition to general surgery, he specializes in surgeries for gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and TIF for GERD.
Since 2004, Dr. Chang has dedicated himself to providing quality, experienced surgical care to the people of South Texas including Victoria and Corpus Christi. As part of his commitment to patient care and safety, he has completed specialized training in advanced surgical techniques and high tech surgery.
Dr. Chang has performed more than 1,500 procedures. Additionally, Dr. Chang is a three-time recipient of the Vitals Patient Choice Award, which is based on patient reviews/ratings and presented to less than 5% of physicians nationwide.

Arturo Gonzalez, M.D., FACS
Dr. Arturo Gonzalez is a board-certified and fellowship-trained general surgeon, who specializes in minimally invasive procedures including robotic-assisted, laparoscopic surgery and endoscopy for the treatment of both benign and malignant diseases. He has special interest in diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract and the surgical management of morbid obesity (bariatric surgery). He has significant experience in the laparoscopic management of hernia, gallbladder, anti-reflux/GERD and colorectal disease.
Dr. Gonzalez is a compassionate surgeon who finds it especially rewarding to help his patients address multiple medical concerns, including diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and more, through weight loss surgery. His bariatric surgery procedures include gastric bypass and vertical sleeve gastrectomy. In many cases, the results of these procedures give his patients a new lease on life.
Dr. Gonzalez has been honored with the Zaragoza Regional Hospital Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement, the Memorial Hermann Katy Physician of the Year and a Patient Safety Award.
