Alan Bassin, M.D., FACS

Alan Bassin, M.D., FACS*

Alan Bassin, M.D., FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon with more than 25 years of experience. Dr. Bassin earned a medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. He completed residency training at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition to performing bariatric weight loss surgery, Dr. Bassin also has a special interest in:

  • Breast cancer surgery, including breast conservation and sentinel node mapping
  • Thyroid and parathyroid procedures
  • Robotic procedures including hernia repairs, cholecystectomy, colon surgery, splenectomy and robotic surgery
  • Anti-reflux/heartburn surgery, including the less invasive transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) and laparoscopic nissen fundoplication

When not performing surgeries, Dr. Bassin enjoys training for his pilot license. He currently resides in Lufkin, Texas, with his wife and three daughters.

Darry Meyer, D.O.*

Darry Meyer, D.O., is a board-certified general surgeon who offers general, laparoscopic, bariatric and robotic surgical services. Dr. Meyer earned a medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth and the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas. He completed residency training at Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas at Fort Worth in Fort Worth, Texas. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.

Dr. Meyer's special interests include:

Jeffrey Hamaker, M.D., is a bilingual general surgeon who performs bariatric weight loss surgery as well as minimally invasive hernia, gallbladder, breast and colon surgery. He is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Hamaker earned a medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed a general surgery residency at Texas A&M, Baylor Scott and White in Temple, Texas. Dr. Hamaker specializes in general, laparoscopic and weight loss surgery. He has a special interest in:

  • Weight loss surgery, specifically laparoscopic gastric sleeve
  • Breast cancer surgery, including breast conservation and sentinel node mapping
  • Hernia repairs, cholecystectomies and colon surgeries performed with laparoscopic and robotic techniques

Ashley McElroy, M.D.*

Ashley McElroy, M.D., is a general surgeon who specializes in general, laparoscopic and bariatric surgery. Dr. McElroy earned a medical degree from Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in Bryan, Texas. She completed a general surgery residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
